Selective Breeding
Selective breeding of domesticated animals shows that artificial selection can cause evolution
Wild animals are often conditioned to their environment or are trained/tamed. Select wild animals with the desirable characteristics then reproduce with the outcome of offspring that possess these same desirable characteristics. This process repeats and results in the animals we are more familiar with today. For example, wild wolves are trained then bred as they possess more composed and "well-behaved" mannerisms. This process then repeats over and over so that over time, dogs that we are more familiar with -"domestic dogs" - are produced and in some cases are much cuter and tame to own as pets, or more sharp and alert for police use. This is an example of how artificial selection can cause evolution.
